The Spirit of Contentment
“(11) Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content. (12) I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things, I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.” – Philippians 4:11-12
When God begins to speak and pour into your life it is beautiful. We have a natural zeal and excitement for the promises of the Lord. We know that the bible says in Numbers 23:19, “God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of Man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?”
When God speaks it shall come to pass if you decided to align yourself with his perfect will. However, as it says in John 10:10, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.” We must understand the enemy is the father of all lies according to John 8:44 and he is a perverted counterfeit. Since Satan is a perverted counterfeit, we must understand that he will cause discontent to rise in our spirit. Satan will cause us to compare our walk and journey to another believer.
Be happy with your portion
I was reminded of a scripture in Luke 16:10, “He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much.” If I am not content with the tens, how could I be content with the hundreds? If I am not content with the hundreds, how can I be content with the thousand? We must remember that the bible says in 1 Peter 5:6, “Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,” When you are humble you are appreciative to what God has done, is doing , or what He is going to do in your life. Be grateful for what He has done already and know that your time will come. Until then, be humble and reverence the Lord.
Father God in the name of Jesus,
Lord we ask for the Spirit of Contentment. That we will be happy with our portion.
That we will reverence your Holy name and always give honor to what you have given us big or small.
Lord, in Luke 18:27 it says, “ But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”
So I know that with you God all things are possible.
I love you and reverence your name.
If any sin should hinder this prayer I ask that you forgive me.
In Jesus Name I pray.
