Choices

And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was also in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.” – Genesis 2:9

Guess what… Eve had a choice.

When I realized this, I was a little mind blown. I thought that it was just one tree in the midst of the Garden of Eden. Growing up I  heard this story and I was taught that Eve ate the apple. However, what I was not taught is that there where two trees and Eve had a choice.

She made her decision

Eve had a choice between the tree of life and the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Yet, Eve chose the tree that led to death and she knew that God commanded her not to eat from that particular tree. In Genesis 3:2 -3 it reads, “And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat the fruit of the trees of the garden; (3) but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God has said, “You shall not eat it, nor shall you touch it, lest you die.”

She knew she had orders from the Lord on what she could eat. Eve made the decision to disobey God. The serpent may have tempted Eve, but the serpent did not physically make her do anything. In the bible when Eve was being questioned by God in Genesis 3:13 it reads, “And the Lord God said to the woman, “What is this you have done?” The woman said, “The serpent deceived me, and I ate.” Eve did not say , “The serpent deceived me and he forced me to eat.” Eve clearly said that the serpent deceived HER and SHE ate.

Eve made the choice to choose death over eternal life. In Genesis 3:22  it reads, “Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil. And now, lest he put out his hand and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever.” This is more confirmation that Eve made the CHOICE.

Bad Choices

Sometimes as Christians we become bratty. We think that we can do what we want to do without consequences. That is false! The bible clearly says in Galatians 6: 7 – 8 , “(7)Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. (8) For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit reap everlasting life.”

We have to understand that God always gives us a choice. If you choose to be disobedient, perverse, wicked in speech, or someone who slanders that is YOUR choice. God is not going to reward you. It’s time to get some accountability and get in order. Stop gossiping, stop being judgmental, stop being perverse, stop cursing, stop drinking, and get it together. Despite what some may preach, Christianity is more than purpose. There is a MAJOR EVENT that we believe in called THE RAPTURE.

“But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” – Matthew 24:36

We do not know

We do not know, when God is coming back. We as a body of Christ must start making better choices. The bible says in Matthew 7:13, “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.”

It is time to make the choice to stop being lukewarm.

“So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth.” – Revelation 3:16

It is okay to enjoy your life, but when people look at you they need to see Christ. Make the right choice.
